Blowing Bubbles

The title, blowing bubbles, is self explanatory. Immediately, one thinks of beautiful big, shinny bubbles, floating around calmly, and disappearing one by one. I am sure most children at some stage, have a had a little bottle of bubbles, and they have blown, and blown in a trans like state. Every batch of bubbles is symbolic of dreams, hopes and tranquility.

Blowing bu192_bubbles-940x626bbles is not just for kids. We all need to take time out from our busy schedules on a daily basis. Ideally, we should all meditate, or take a walk in nature. But, some of us just can’t get this together, so I suggest a 5 min bubble blowing session. Blowing bubbles, releases both physical and emotional tension. It offers us an opportunity to blow our troubles away, even if, only temporarily. We can use the bubbles to visualise our dreams, and aspirations.

Apart from anything else, blowing bubbles is just so much fun, and if more adults blew bubbles, they would be a lot calmer. I know I need to blow some more bubbles. The next time you go to a children’s home, or a nursery school, why not make a bubble solution, and let them enjoy the fun and excitement, that blowing bubbles can bring. It is a fun and positive way of bringing together families and communities. We were once given bubbles to blow in court.  When we blew them, not only did it relax us, but it made us laugh.  We all know, that “laughter is the best medicine.”

Wanting to unite your co workers, this is a great informal way of getting staff to relax. It can be used at the beginning of a brainstorming session to get the creative juices flowing, or just simply as a way of breaking down barriers, to enable better communication.

Blowing bubbles is a fun way of doing this, Without being aware of it, when we are blowing, we breathe in, a lot deeper, in order to blow out. Try and breathe deeply through your nose, and into your lungs, and then blow away the bubbles. And each time you blow, either blow away a trouble, or make a wish and send it off in the bubble.

Blowing bubbles, often brings back good childhood memories, which can be extremely comforting. It is always so much better for us to keep remembering our happy times, rather than focusing our out troubles.

And, if blowing bubbles is just not for you, how about a big happy bubble bath, or a glass of bubbly champagne. Both of these options, are just as therapeutic, and loads of bubble fun.

Here is a simple, quick and economical bubble blowing recipe

Pour about half 1 cup of water, and 2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid into a med size bowl. Then add a thickener, which ideally should be glycerine, but if you don’t have this, you can use sugar (about 1 tablespoon). Stir gently to mix the solution.

To make fun bubbles, if you are doing this with your children. Why not mix: a packet of jelly (any colour/ flavour) with half a cup of dishwashing liquid, and 4 cups of water.

A pipe cleaner will make the ideal bubble blower, but if you do not have one, you can use a wire coathanger. Bend either of them into a hoop, leaving ends on either side to twist into a handle.
