1. Supplement with Vitamin A
Vitamin A is essential for healthy eyes. A deficiency in this vitamin could be behind your dry eyes. Some disorders like cystic fibrosis and liver disease can prevent you from absorbing all the Vitamin A you need. Take a daily multi-vitamin to increase your Vitamin A.
2. Take blink breaks
It’s important to give your eyes a break especially after long hours looking at a computer or reading a book.
3. Avoid rubbing itchy eyes
Dry eyes can easily be infected. So, remember to keep your hands away from your eyes.
4. Check your medicine cabinet
If you’re taking diuretics, antihistamines or antidepressants, look out for dry eyes as a potential side effect. Speak to your doctor about changing your medication if your eyes are really bothering you.
5. Use a humidifier
Dry eyes + dry air = bad reaction. A humidifier can keep the air in your home or office moist.
Avoid dusty, smoky areas if you can. Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol.
