Awaken Your Life’s Purpose

Life's Purpose

Have you ever spent time with some one who is gung-ho about what they love? You may have noticed that others around them soon become upbeat as creative ideas surge through their veins too. If children are in the vicinity, they will shine like light bulbs. You see, enthusiasm is catching and when you’ve got it, all you want to do is share it.

Children whose parents are inspired by life, their career, an activity or a service, benefit immensely from such powerful frequencies that flow around them. Externally, they learn to be active with joy and positivity.

Internally, oxytocin is released as a result from the inspiration and enthusiasm. Oxytocin is a nine amino acid hormone and neurotransmitter that promotes feelings of friendliness, caring, generosity and feelings of connectedness. You can see how vital oxytocin is for building relationships.

The fact of the matter is that the majority of adults do not feel passionate by life, let alone their work. So how can a parent create an atmosphere of inspiration when s/he is not feeling that way? Naturally, it is impossible. Thus, the solution is obvious… in order to ‘rub off’ feelings that will benefit our children we need to first cultivate them ourselves.

The first step is to bring into your life something, no matter how small, that excites you. Yes, life is busy but if something is important to us we will make time of it, even if only for a few minutes a day or for thirty minutes once a week.

Secondly, share this experience with your child. Speak about it and let your child see and feel how you are feeling. Observe the response.

Third is sometimes the most tricky: maintenance. We get used to our ruts and patterns and tend to forget how amazing we feel when we follow our dreams and instead we flop on the couch. Again, by observing you and your consistency and motivation, your child will, over time, acquire this life-long skill.

Sometimes our natural inspiration becomes blocked by situations that disturb us, emotional grievances we carry with us and negative thought patterns.

Many philosophers have suggested that the key to wisdom is to know ourselves, for when we know ourselves then we can transform into a colourful butterfly, radiating pure essence. Interestingly, the word ‘inspiration’ is defined in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary as “the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions”.

Children’s joy is the most infectious of all. actually what we should be doing is looking to them more for our own sources of joy.
