M-Net’s Channel O DJs will get the crowds dancing at this year’s street party.

 

The Cape Town Carnival, an annual celebration of creativity and diverse African identities, takes place on Saturday 18 March on the Green Point Fan Walk.

And this year, Channel O, a sponsor of the event, is going to add plenty of pizzazz with a fantastic open-air after-party. “We’re very excited to be working with M-Net’s Channel O this year. Thus, making the carnival a brilliant all-round experience,” says Jay Douwes, CEO of the Cape Town Carnival.

The theme for the carnival this year is “AMAZA – Ocean Odyssey”. And the floats and costumes will showcase many delights from the sea. Furthermore, we have up to 50 000 people expected to pour into the Mother City to take part in the festivities. This will wrap up with a top DJ line-up is the perfect way to keep the crowds entertained.

Local award-winning DJs Fresh and Euphonik will be taking to the stage at the end of the Fan Walk. They will bring you live music from a gigantic sea-urchin float. In addition, massive speakers will surround the float, an impressive array of lights and colour. “M-Net and Channel O are proud to be a part of this outstanding event. And Channel O is the perfect brand to host the after party which showcases the various local music genres we have in South Africa “says M-Net General Manager for South Africa Nkateko Mabaso.

About The Cape Town Carnival

The Cape Town Carnival, held annually in March, is the country’s pre-eminent street parade. It showcases and celebrates the vibrant diversity of Cape Town – and South Africa – with more than 50 community groups. Thus, bringing the Green Point Fan Walk alive with spectacular floats, giant puppets and extravagant costumes. Thousands of spectators from all over the world converge along the 1.2km parade route. The Cape Town Carnival is set to become one of the top seven jewel events of Cape Town and is a flagship project of the National Department of Arts and Culture.
