UnknownChilly morning motivation.  Overnight, the weather has turned, from heat wave temperatures to freezing point. Waking up this morning, I feel so motivated and inspired. The change of Seasons, always signifies new beginnings. The 2 things that come to mind today for me are, my winter “look”, and “clutter”.

I put on my warm baggy tracksuit, and felt extremely smug, until I took a good look at myself in the mirror, and realised that this was not a good winter look. Firstly, I would feel extremely comfortable eating loads of comfort food, and stretching my body into my tracksuit. Secondly, I look terrible, and from experience, I know that if we feel good about the way we look, how whole day feels a lot better.

Wow, I have looked in a couple of magazines and seen pics of amazing outfits to wear this winter. The best part, is that I don’t even have to go out and buy anything. I can mix and match everything I have in my wardrobe, and look and feel great. My challenge to myself, is to stay healthy this winter, and dress to impress every day.

While browsing through my clothes, I realised that I have many items that I either cannot fit into (and never will), or that I just for some reason never wear. And, so, I suddenly felt motivated to declutter. I will whip through every room in our house, and put aside what we never use.

I immediately started with our bathroom cupboards, and within less than half an hour, I eliminated half the “stuff”. It really does feel amazing to clean and tidy. We will now be able to see exactly what we are looking for when we need it. My next goal is to tackle all of our clothes cupboards. With 6 of us in the family this is quite a task.

We already have 4 big bin bags full of clothes that we are going to give away. Another joy of decluttering is being able to give so much to so many people, that really need it. We have recently donated piles of books to our local library. I have put aside loads of accessories, clothes to donate to a Charity, that dresses underprivileged children up for matric dances. And, now we can give the balance of the clothes to orphanages as well.

So, not only will I be looking better, while still staying warm and cosy, buy I will now be able to, experience the joy of giving to all these people in need. And, finally we will all benefit from living in a clean, tidy and uncluttered house.

Lesson to myself: Do not buy anything that we do not need. No more clutter, please.
