Clean Eating Made Easy – In Ayurveda we usually introduce two core principles: clean eating and food combining. These are simple, sustainable practices that can truly transform your digestion, energy levels, and overall vitality.
Clean Eating Starts with Living Food
One of the first things we encourage is that at least 80% of each meal consists of living, whole, fresh foods—foods that are rich in enzymes, hydration, and natural vitality. Think crunchy greens, ripe fruits, fresh herbs, sprouted seeds, and gently steamed vegetables.
These foods not only nourish your body, but they activate your digestive fire (Agni) and help your system eliminate waste more efficiently. Whether you’re struggling with fatigue, hormonal imbalance, weight gain, or sluggish digestion—this one shift alone can bring immense relief.
Food Combining:
Why we Recommend Not Mixing Proteins & Starches
Another fundamental practice we recommend is avoiding the combination of proteins and starches in a single meal. This principle, rooted in both Ayurveda and natural hygiene, makes meals easier to digest and prevents bloating, gas, fatigue, and indigestion.
When proteins (like meat, eggs, cheese) and starches (like bread, rice, potatoes) are eaten together, your body must produce conflicting digestive enzymes. This slows down digestion and creates fermentation in the gut, which can lead to inflammation and imbalance.
Instead, we suggest alternating Protein-Based Lunches and Starch-Based Lunches for clean, easy digestion. Here are some ideas:
Starch-Based Lunch Ideas (No Protein)
- Baked sweet potato with salad
- Steamed basmati rice with sautéed vegetables
- Butternut and pumpkin soup with gluten-free toast
- Fresh corn on the cob with ghee and greens
- Vegetable stir-fry with brown rice or millet
- Roasted root vegetables with olive oil and herbs
- Quinoa tabbouleh with cucumber and mint
- Avocado on Provita with salad
- Greek salad with olives and feta
- Steamed vegetables with ghee and pink salt
- Baked potato with ghee and green salad
- Hummus with raw baby vegetables
Protein-Based Lunch Ideas (No Starch)
- Grilled chicken salad with mixed greens
- Boiled eggs with sliced avo and tomatoes
- Tuna salad in lettuce wraps
- Stir-fried tofu with bok choy and mushrooms
- Grilled salmon with steamed asparagus
- Egg and spinach scramble with rocket
- Beef strips with cucumber & avo salad
- Chicken strips with cabbage slaw
- Poached eggs with kale and mushrooms
- Grilled halloumi with zucchini ribbons
- Boiled eggs and hummus with carrot sticks
- Tuna with broccoli and olive oil
