Honey, oh glorious honey! You give such glee! You yummify our oatmeal and sweeten up our tea! Honey is not just rich in golden flavour, but each and every drop of raw honey packs an unbelievable amount of pure bioactive energy.
The healing power of honey has been revered since the time of the ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks. And for good reason – this bee product serves your skin in so many different ways!
Packed with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, honey is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and also helps clear up pesky breakouts. In addition, it’s effective in replenishing your skin’s moisture levels and is also able to restore elasticity in extra dry skin. What’s more, its protective antioxidant properties help defend your skin from harmful environmental stressors that make you age quicker.
Why wouldn’t you incorporate this all-natural beauty treatment into your skincare routine? If you want to give it a go, here are two of my favourite honey skin treatments.
Two honey facial treatments
1. Honey face mask
If you want to rejuvenate and restore your skin, mix up 1 tablespoon honey to 1 tablespoon of raw, unfiltered honey yogurt. Apply to your face after cleansing and wash it off after 30 minutes with warm water. Repeat this process daily or at least three times a week to get the bright skin. Yogurt has the natural alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) or a natural cleaning agent which exfoliates the dead skin cells and makes the skin bright and honey deeply moisturizes the skin to make it glowing and naturally hydrated. The honey gives the mask brightening power, leaving you with gorgeous, glowing skin! Furthermore, it also helps clear up problem skin without causing irritation. That’s right – it’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin!
2. Honey face wash
To use honey as a face wash, simply mix up a small spoonful of honey with a spritz or two of rose water in the palm of your hand. Then, gently massage the mixture into your skin in circular motion to help increase circulation. This gives your skin a fantastic dose of all the antioxidants it needs.
