Nutrition doesn’t only affect your internal health and weight, but eating the right foods can also improve the quality of your skin. In fact, when it comes to glowing skin, what you put in your body matters more than what you put on it.
I’m talking about the many foods that are rich in antioxidants. These much talked about antioxidants help protect your cells against the effects of free radicals and the damage they cause. They also help promote clear, glowing skin. So, here are my favourite delicious four that you should definitely consider adding to your diet:
Four foods for clear, glowing skin
1. Dark chocolate
Rich in antioxidants, chocolate helps improve skin hydration by reducing moisture loss in skin. This leads to smoother and improved skin texture. But not just any chocolate. You have to choose chocolates that have more than 70% cacao. And, remember to reap the benefits without sabotaging your weight by not taking too much.
2. Walnuts
Walnuts are loaded in omega-3 essential fatty acids which helps stimulate collagen, improving skin elasticity. So, enjoy a small handful of walnuts every day for healthy cells. You can also get your dose by adding them to healthy muffin, cookie and bread recipes. I enjoy them sprinkled over my salad.
3. Cherries
Cherries are packed with 17 different antioxidant compounds which can help slow down the skin’s ageing process. You can keep frozen cherries for a quick and healthy smoothie. You can also try adding a small amount of dried cherries to your salads – delicious!
4. Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds help maintain collagen levels, increase elasticity, and stimulate new skin cell growth. The fatty acids found in pumpkin seed oil also boast antioxidant properties. It is a rich source of vitamin E, which has powerful effects on skin appearance and texture. I especially love the pumpkin seed oil available on our online store.
