For my smoothie experiments, I stick just about anything and everything in the freezer. However, I find myself trying out my experiments before they hit the blender and I’ve discovered which treats taste better frozen.
So, here are ten of my favourite foods that taste better in their frozen form. Enjoy!
Ten healthy frozen snacks
1. Avocado slices
Freeze for 4 or 5 hours, then sprinkle with salt and chilli pepper.
2. Orange wedges
Freeze for 3 or 4 hours. Grapefruit wedges are delicious, too.
3. Yoghurt
Simply fill a popsicle mould with yoghurt, freeze overnight and then enjoy your very own homemade frozen yoghurt the next day!
4. Melon cubes
Freeze for 3 or 4 hours, then drizzle with honey.
5. Mango slices
Freeze for 5 or 6 hours. Great for enjoying at breakfast with a cup of green tea!
6. Watermelon wedges
Freeze for 3 or 4 hours. Frozen watermelon wedges are my favourite frozen summer treat!
7. Grapes
Freeze individually or in bunches for 5 or 6 hours. They make for a great work snack.
8. Berries
Freeze for 6 to 8 hours. Frozen berries are great in smoothies or as a morning snack.
9. Banana
You guessed this one, didn’t you? Freeze for 5 to 6 hours, then peel and enjoy in a creamy smoothie.
10. Nuts
Believe it or not, frozen nuts are divine! Freeze them for 4 or 5 hours, then enjoy as a snack or in a smoothie for some great crunch.
Happy Snacking!
