There’s no doubt lemons are nutritious, and drinking them with your water will definitely make you healthier. One cup of fresh lemon juice is packed with 187% of your daily recommended serving of vitamin C.
But what I love most about warm water and lemon is that fact that it doesn’t break the bank. I have a different twist to my drink which I’ll share with you later. But for now, lets look at some benefits.
What happens when you drink warm water and lemon
Lemons contain a variety of nutrients including citric acid, magnesium, calcium, vitamin C, pectin, bioflavonoids and limonene. These boost immunity and also fight infection. The biggest benefit of lemon water is not only from the lemon but the temperature of the water. When you drink warm water first thing in the morning, it helps rehydrate the body and flush the digestive system. Warm water and lemon:
Helps aid digestion;
Boosts the immune system;
Helps clear up skin;
Balances pH levels;
Hydrates the lymph system;
Promotes healing;
Freshens breath; and
Aids weight loss.

Warm water and lemon recipe
Ingredients:
A fresh-squeezed lemon (organic if possible)
1 tbsp unfiltered apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp honey (local and raw preferably)
Warm water
This is just a general recipe. Some lemons have more juice than others so try to use a little less vinegar. If you don’t like sweet things, you can leave out the honey. Feel free to play with the proportions. However, there are are things you should keep in mind:
1. Don’t drink it hot
Common sense is not always common. But this is not about common sense. There’s a good reason why you shouldn’t drink it hot. The flavor is a little bit more mellow and also has less bite when you drink it warm versus hot.
2. Don’t drink it cold
If you drink it cold, you might as well forget it… It’s terrible!
3. Treat it the same as your regular warm water and lemon
This means drinking it first thing in the morning just before breakfast. If you can stomach more one cup, then go for it.
Enjoy!
