If you’re trying to beat acne, rub ice cubes over your face for three to five minutes before applying medication. This has been shown to minimise the problem.
Benzoyl Peroxide is also an effective acne treatment available in various formulations and strengths. However, don’t buy acne washes because they’re largely ineffective. Rather look for alcohol-based gels which are more effective than lotions and creams of the same strength – but they can cause skin irritations such as dryness, redness and peeling. The best way to know if Benzoyl Peroxide is effective is to try it. Just reduce frequency of application if irritation occurs or increase application to twice a day if no side-effects are visible. Note that Benzoyl Peroxide bleaches clothing and towels. So, wash your hands after use and dry them thoroughly.
