A celebration of 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s music through fashion and food. Cape Town, December 2015 welcomes Make Love Not War again! A series of one-day festivals taking place at Grand Africa – Beach, V & A Waterfront. In the wake of trending daytime festivals and a resurgence of Bohemianism, Make Love Not War digs classic 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s tunes out of the crates and celebrates these decades of undeniably good music through boho-chic fashion and sexy beach food. The festival is set on a private beach, which forms part of Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront and looks out onto Table Bay.

Grand Africa Beach is where beach culture meets eclectic décor with oversized chandeliers, antique Indian rugs and large entrances that lead out onto the wooden deck and Atlantic Ocean – creating the perfect playground for Make Love Not War which encourages barefoot bohemianism.

A selection of Cape Town’s top fashion and décor brands have been invited to sell their collections in Make Love Not War’s hippie market where vibrant kaftans, crocheted bikinis or quilted throws and scatter cushions can be bought – also giving festival goers the opportunity to interact directly with these designers.

Key male and female fashion brands participating include Dreamland, LISP, MESO, Agh Ja Clothing, Gabriela Fraser Designs, Babette and Magents as well as accessory designers Matter of Fakt and Kata Jewellery. Décor includes funky wall installations from MIYU Homeware, handmade linen from Oh So Boho and Native American dream catchers from Passion Weaver. Alongside this boho fashion and beach-chic food will be tarrot readings, Ayurvedic massage and numerology as well as fine art and glassblowing. Grand Africa – Beach has created a number of dishes to be served from pop-up Food Shacks.

The next Make Love Not War festivals are to take place on the 16th of December 2015 and the 20th of March 2016.

These events start at 14h00 and tickets, costing R200 each, are available from Nutickets: http://afterhours.nutickets.co.za/MLNW or at the door of the event. VIP table bookings can be made by emailing tim@grandafrica.com. No under 18’s allowed.
