You’re wise if you’re looking for ways to protect your prostate. You see, prostate cancer develops in 40% of men over age 50 and up to 70% of men over 70. But you don’t have to suffer from it.
And today I’ll show you how.
Stay active and do your prostate a favor
It’s not completely true that your chances of getting cancer are up to your genes and lucky stars. Exercising regularly can really reduce your risk of prostate cancer. Yes, burning calories!
A researcher at Harvard University conducted a study on 20000 men who exercised and men who were inactive. prostate cancer was extremely rare(only one case) in 365 men who burned over 4000 calories a week. There were 38 cases of prostate cancer in 1869 men who burned fewer than 1000 calories a week. You don’t have to be a math whiz to see what the numbers indicated. If you’re staying active, you’ll do your prostate a favor.

Exercise comes in different forms
You don’t have to go to gym to stay active. You can burn calories in your everyday activities such as walking and climbing stairs. Here are a few ideas:
1. Walk like you’re late for a meeting
If you can, walk or cycle to work. Understandably, not everyone can do this. So, always park far away. Park your car as far away from the entrance as you can. Not only will you reduce your stress levels, you’ll get a bit more exercise. And when you finish at one store, walk to the next one rather than getting in your car and driving. If your take public transport, you can always get off early so that you force yourself to walk the rest of the way.
2. Don’t sit still – Fidget.
Probably not going to make you a favorite with friends and colleagues, but fidgeting can burn a decent amount of calories. Just how many will depend on the activities you do, but in one study by the Mayo Clinic fidgeters burnt about 350 more calories than non-fidgeters (bear in mind, their definition of fidgeting includes walking around the office; fidgeters spent 150 minutes less sitting down compared to non-fidgeters). Get up, stand up, walk around.
And if you’re able, get yourself a standing desk, or petition your boss to! If your boss isn’t willing to help you set up a standing desk, then you can always replace your chair with a pilates ball.
3. Take the stairs
Please leave the elevator. Perhaps the best way to think of stair climbing is as a more powerful form of walking. Both are good for you but because stair climbing requires you to pull your weight against gravity, it requires more effort and its health benefits accrue more rapidly.
