A pendulum is a weighted object that is hung from a single chain. It’s never made of a magnetic substance. It is often a semiprecious stone. You can use objects such as a favorite trinket, a bead, a metal ball, wedding ring or even a key.

The pendulum is a very simple tool and one that lets the user tune into their #intuitive powers.

What is Dowsing???

#Dowsing is a way to receive a Yes or No response to a question. Pendulums are the most popular tool used for dowsing. #Muscle #testing is another form of dowsing. There are also deviceless dowsing methods using hands, fingers, and your whole body.

Facts About Pendulums

Ancient Egypt and Rome used pendulums as a dowsing and divination devices. However, their use may pre-date recorded history. Using pendulums in clocks to keep time was an innovation of the 17th century.

Pendulums in Healthcare

Holistic medical practitioners also sometimes use dowsing pendulums to make diagnoses and determine the most appropriate treatment for a patient’s condition. They hold the pendulum over different parts of the body and, depending on how the pendulum swings, the practitioner can determine the locations of infections. In addition, they also place a pendulum over a range of remedies; the medications that are most beneficial for the patient are supposed to stimulate the pendulum to move in their direction.

Galileo

Galileo spent time observing a swinging chandelier in a cathedral in 1588, demonstrating an apparently continuous perpetual motion. It was this observation that instigated an in-depth study of pendulums. Around 1602 Galileo began serious investigations into the usefulness of the pendulum as a time-keeping device. However, he failed to produce a functional timepiece.

Christian Huygens of the Netherlands

In 1657, Christian Huygens, a physicist and mathematician from the Netherlands, succeeded in producing the first clock based on Galileo’s initial findings. The pendulum clock then became the standard time-keeping instrument. Large clocks were developed, including the famous London clock tower Big Ben, which has continued to work as an efficient timepiece ever since it was built.

Divination with a Pendulum

Healers and psychics have used pendulums since ancient times for divination, locating things or simply looking for the answer to a question. These pendulums were usually made from a crystal or a gold ring hanging from a silk cord or a light gold chain. The pendulum swings freely while a yes/no question is asked. The direction the pendulum swings–either clockwise, counter-clockwise or from side to side–suggests the answer. Held over a map, the pendulum is gradually moved motionless across the map, and when it starts to swing or drops, the location is recorded. This method is used for finding gold, oil, and minerals for mining as well as to locate underground water, find a lost object and even locate people.

What is Divination???

According to the dictionary, divination is the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.

How Does Pendulum Dowsing Work?

Just as radios pick up information from unseen radio waves, the pendulum is a powerful antenna that receives information from the vibrations and energy waves emitted by people, places, thoughts and things.

Noted physicist, Albert Einstein, performed impressive feats with such dowsing tools. He believed that it had to do with electromagnetism: just as birds migrate following the earth’s magnetic field, dowsers react to energies that are unseen and still not fully understood.

Some people say that the pendulum creates a bridge between the logical and intuitive parts of the mind. Some say that pendulums connect them with a higher power and call it “divining” as they believe the information comes from a divine source. Research by many scientists indicates that the pendulum responds to electromagnetic energy that radiates from everything on Earth.

No one knows for sure how the pendulum works

However, the important thing is that it does work! Thomas Edison’s reply to the question about electricity : “I don’t know what it is, but it’s there, let’s use it.” Other famous dowsing advocates in history include Leonardo De Vinci (inventor), Robert Boyle (father of modern chemistry), Charles Richet (nobel prize winner), and General Patton (U.S. Army).

Another way of looking at it is realizing that a TV antenna can pick up invisible rays and translate them into pictures. Therefore, perhaps the inherent electrical current of the brain can also act as a receiver for which the pendulum serves as a transmitter.

But regardless, even if you do not understand how pendulums work, just as most people don’t know the inner workings of a television or telephone, you can still benefit from its use. You do not have to be psychic to use a pendulum. There is nothing magical or mystical despite the fact that friends and family are always amazed at its uncanny accuracy. How you believe it works may be secondary to the fact that it actually does work. And, you can experience it for yourself.
