The Sound of Silence played over and over in my head during my restless sleep last night
On waking up this morning I realized how relevant the song, The Sound Of Silence is for our 2020 New Year Eve. Tonight will be silent as we are all in lockdown and our curfew is 9;00 pm. Most of us will be staying at home, setting our New Years’ intentions. May I please remind you to light a candle in memory of those people who have lost their lives this year due to Covid-19? Plus say a Prayer for the recovery of all of those people who are ill either in hospitals or at home.
The Sound of Silence

Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
Silence like cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words, like silent raindrops, fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out it’s warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls”
And whispered in the sound of silence
