The lauded Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is part of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection and a member of Leading Hotels of the World.
The hotel is on the pristine Atlantic coastline of South Africa’s ‘Mother City’, Cape Town. Flanked by geological wonders, The Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain, this luxury five-star hotel has become an ‘institution’ within South African hospitality culture.
This award-winning hotel offers luxurious rooms with exquisite dining and spa experiences
With winding and scenic views of the vast ocean on the right and the Twelve Apostles on the left, it is hard to believe that this oasis is a mere 10-minute drive from the cosmopolitan Camps Bay ‘strip’. Upon arrival, professional staff are there to welcome you with a refreshing willingness to assist and no request being too much.
The property fully showcases its natural surroundings with the glass-walled spa treatment gazebos. The mountain nestles them and the indigenous Cape Flora surrounds them. Designed by owner Toni Tollman, natural muted tones of white, beige, stone and marble were chosen to exude a calming, light and spiritual ambience.
This luxurious spa offers guests the ideal escape where harmony and tranquillity restore the body, mind and soul
The exceptionally skilled therapists are dedicated to restoring beauty and balance through a variety of treatments. With ultimate relaxation in mind, the facilities have indoor heated plunge pools, rain showers and a salt water floatation pool. These are all perfect places to end off after a treatment. In addition, the spa’s commitment to wellbeing focuses on holistic principles, combining ancient wisdom and modern expertise.
The Azure Restaurant
Located on the property, offers a fine dining experience which draws inspiration from both indigenous and international influences. Christo Pretorius, the Executive Chef is the curator behind the exquisite 5-course winter tasting menu that we enjoyed. This menu pays homage to the founder and president of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, Beatrice Tollman, and the culinary team.
Azure updates its menu seasonally. Furthermore, their ‘modern’ cuisine features the freshest ingredients that they carefully source from environmentally responsible suppliers. The level of service was exceptional and the food – paired with local wines – faultless. Thus, ensuring that all aspects of a ‘fine dining’ experience was achieved, with our expectations exceeded.
There are 55 deluxe guest rooms and 15 luxurious suites. With both sea and mountain facing rooms, the hardest part of our stay was deciding whether to choose a sea or mountain facing view – both of which are spectacular.
The interior design is calming and artfully combines sophistication with simplicity, comfort and elegance
Furthermore, the attention to detail is something that sets this hotel apart. The light and airy suites are visually eclectic, with contemporary African style and classic European comfort combined. In addition, the rooms are all have up-to-the-minute technology and beautiful finishes.
We slept soundlessly in the pure white crisp linen sheets. Waking up at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is a peaceful and luxurious way to start the day. The spectacular sea views go on as far as the eye can see. In fact, if it weren’t for the delicious and extensive breakfast selection, we would have never left the comfort of our stunning suite. I cannot recommend visiting this world-class hotel enough – a location that should be on every visitor’s agenda when exploring Cape Town.
