I’m sure you have that one food that makes you feel good. Yes, that high in calories and saturated fat treat called comfort food.

Well, even though most comfort foods are loaded with deep-fried in oil or sugar, there are some that are actually diet friendly.

And today, I want to tell you about three of them.

Three of my favorite fat burning comfort foods

1. Red wine

Research shows that drinking a glass of wine four to five times per week helps you live longer and increases your ‘good’ (HDL) cholesterol. Furthermore, according to report from the University of Ulm in Germany, the renowned antioxidant found in grape skins – resveratrol inhibits the production of fat cells.  In addition, calcium pyruvate – another substance found in red wine helps fat cells burn more energy. So, why wouldn’t you have one glass of red wine a day and burn some fat and the process?

2. Hot chocolate

Hot chocolate is not only tasty but the perfect beverage in winter. What makes it a comfort food is the cocoa which is packed with antioxidants, that help reduce your levels of your stress hormone – cortisol. Furthermore the combination of carbohydrates and protein in hot chocolate can help your muscles recover from a tough workout.
To keep insulin out of the bloodstream and from storing fat, all you need to do is add some cinnamon to your hot chocolate.

3. Chicken noodle soup

When you eat a really good bowl of soup, you don’t only feel good but know you’re being healthy too. What I love about having soup or broth before a meal is that, you end consuming fewer calories overall. The soup boosts satiety making you feel full before the actual meal. In fact, according to a study by One Penn State University, you can reduce your total calorie u=intake by 20% if you eat soup before tucking into your entree. So, why chicken noodle soup? Well, it’s loaded with vitamins, proteins and fibre that help rev up your metabolism, even after your meal.
