So, you read about the benefits of Hemp seeds and decided to give them a try. But after buying these shelled seeds, you have no idea what to do with them.

Today, I’ll tell you about three ways that I like to use hemp seeds but the list of things you can do with them is endless. You just have to think outside the box.

Why you should include hemp seeds in your diet

Hemp seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids that you need to make a complete protein. So, if you’re looking for a vegan source of protein, hemp seeds are a perfect choice.

Also, they are high in both soluble and insoluble fiber, which is very important for your digestive health. Furthermore, these super healthy seeds are high in antioxidants, including vitamins A, C, and E and are rich in menerals. And they taste good too! Here’s how to use them:

1. In your favorite salad

You can increase the nutrient density of any leafy green salad by sprinkling 3-4 tablespoons of hemp seeds on top of before serving.  Furthermore, they’re also great for blending into non-dairy salad dressings. This is because they add a beautiful thick creaminess. Also, the seeds give the dressing a boost in healthy fat. This helps our bodies absorb the fat-soluble vitamins like vitamins A, K, and E found in salads.

2. In your smoothies

Hemp seeds don’t only add a protein punch and nutrition boost to smoothies, they’ll also give your smoothie a creamy texture. Also, if you want to have a nutty taste in your smoothie, don’t throw them in the blender. Garnish your smoothie with a tablespoon of hemp seeds!

How to make your own homemade milk: Add 4 cups of water, 1 cup of hemp seeds and honey to the pitcher of a blender. You don’t have to soak the seeds. Puree and strain through cheesecloth or a nut milk bag and discard solids. You can then refrigerate your hemp milk in an airtight jar for up to three days. You can use your creamy homemade hemp milk in your smoothies. Furthermore, you can use it with cereal or porridge!

3. In your pesto

I love pesto.I use it on my pizza, in pasta or as a sandwich spread. It whips up in a flash and lasts a few weeks in the fridge. But what makes my pesto different is these amazing seeds that are a complete protein. They add a slightly nutty flavor that contrasts the slight bitterness of the basil. Thus, making for a super healthy sandwich slather.
