First things first, an average Mexican won’t understand the world without the most common ingredient – Lime. It goes on almost everything – soup, tacos, peanuts, salads, seafood cocktails, grilled beef, fish dishes… and of course tequila.

It all starts with the tortilla, a staple in all food from Mexico. I mean, would there be Mexican food without tortillas? They are either corn or flour based though corn. If you enjoy cheese as much as I do, you have to try tortilla chips and cheese as a starter. Just remember, there’s lime around the corner.

La Rosa Mexican Grille

There are endless variations of tacos in Mexico. They are most commonly made using small corn tortillas. Some of my favourite meats for tacos include chorizo (pork sausage), al pastor (pork shavings) and carne asada (beef slices).

La Rosa

While there are Mexican restaurants everywhere, not all of them have authentic food. Most have altered traditional recipes to better suit the local palette. But not at this hip Mexican joint I recently visited – La Rosa. No matter what your choice of salsa, filling, style of tortilla or level of service you are looking, I can assure you without a doubt that you haven’t really had Mexican food until you have eaten at La Rosa.
